Challenges
- ear infection/congestion = nasal spray: Hudson had his first ear infection this month: ( Our doctor was booked, so we had to see a different doctor. She went through everything REALLY fast: ( I was a little overwhelmed and wished I had seen our doctor! Looking back, I’m not so sure he really had an ear infection (She said his ear was "a little pink."), but there isn’t anything I can do about it now. I took him into the doctor because he had TONS of boogers, and nothing we were trying (propped up in bed, humidifier, nasal spray – which he started accepting like a champ!) was helping. He got better and didn't have an infection anymore when we went back two weeks later! I hope that is the end of ear infections - but we'll be lucky if that is it!
- teething: Hudson spent quite a bit of time chewing on his hands this month! He couldn't really hold his teether by himself, so I held it for him sometimes. He had a few fussy evenings, but it wasn't too bad.
- blogging: When I'm not at work, I want to spend every moment with Hudson. Since I try to get in bed when he goes to bed, this means that I have little time to do anything else! Sometimes I don't even turn the computer on at home from M-F!

Successes
- sleep (sometimes): I only got up once or twice most nights this month!! Woo hoo!!
- routine: We start his routine around 8:00 and are in bed by 9:00. I really tried to go to bed when he did, and I didn't feel too tired this month!
- exercising: I got in five workouts/week this month - woo hoo!

Fun Stuff
- meeting his fraunties (friend + aunties!): My college friends came for a visit, and it was SO much fun! I needed some friend time SO bad, and their visit made me feel a little like my old self. We did a lot of eating and chatting, and we squeezed in just a few adult beverages (really!!). For example, I tried to have a couple of glasses of wine, but I failed miserably and fell asleep by 9:30 after my second glass: (

The highlight for me - other than introducing them to H! - was our lunch at Free State and then our trip to the Blue Jacket Winery. We did a wine tasting, walked in the vineyard, and hung out on the porch!

Love these pics!

- friend time: We had a great night at Anne and Paul's with a small group of friends - including Zach and Bonny! They are back from Germany and living in Manhattan! Can't wait to spend more time with them! We also went to a housewarming party at Amanda and Jerrod's beautiful new house! It was so fun to see all of the babies, mamas, and the soon-to-be new mamas!
- family time: We spent quite a bit of time with family here and there this month. Everyone loves to pass Hudson around: )
- baseball: Nick and Hudson started watching a lot of baseball together! Hudson still doesn't have any Royals gear, but hopefully he can get some soon. He watches the TV with Nick, and he gets fussy when commercials come on - seriously!
- Claire's baby shower: Hudson and I attended Claire's baby shower, and it was a blast!

She looked so cute...

...the decorations were unbelievable...

...and it was so fun to get excited about new baby Arlo Maxwell!!!

Mama, Grandma, and Baby H

- Elliot: Hudson, Mom, and I visited with Elliot. Hudson had so much fun staring at Elliot, and he can't wait to play again soon: )

This Month's Must-Have Baby Items
- a toy that elicits instant smiles: Hudson spent at least a few minutes every day smiling at his cow, Moo Moo. He giggled, cooed, talked, smiled - and made every other cute noise and face you can imagine - at Moo Moo. If things weren't going well, we brought out Moo Moo, and Hudson instantly paid attention to her and - usually - grinned: ) If he was crying when Moo Moo came to the rescue, he sometimes stopped crying. On other occasions, he smiled and cried at the same time - so sweet! He loves to hug her and hold her hand: )

Milestones
This is some of what he was up to during his fourth month:

- did lots of leg kicking and arm waving
- lifted himself up

- did some more and more cooing, gooing, ahhing, and other sounds
- put weight on his legs
- grasped small/light toys, rings, and rattles
- put his pacifier in his mouth (sometimes - ha!)
- turned toward voices and sounds
- played with hands (and REALLY stared hard at them!)
- became more interested in books
