Registering...

I haven't written for weeks: ( SOOOO sorry faithful readers; ) I shouldn't be writing now, but I couldn't stand it any longer!!

Nick and I have made some progress with our wedding...but we still haven't registered, and we REALLY need to. I'm hoping to narrow down some items on our checklist by next weekend, and then we will register. I think Saturday we'll go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and then on Sunday we will go to Crate and Barrel's Wedding Party. I am going to call tomorrow to see if they have to reserve a space for us or something. I think it will be fun: )

More to come soon...promise!

Marley and Me

Nick and I went to see Marley and Me last weekend. I cried through most of the movie, but it DID remind me how much I love Cal (I didn't need too much reminding: ) - until she broke a glass on the stairs this week!).

Here is a pic from a few weeks ago of Cal in the snow...

Here is a video and some pics of her first "puppy cup" at Dairy Queen...

finally another post...

WOW! I have been busy lately...and not with wedding stuff: ( We do have a three-day weekend, so I am hoping to finish a few things then.

I was spending some time on my fave blog - Snippet and Ink - earlier today, and I fell in love with some of this week's favorites! I spent some time look at the sites, and these are some of my favorite photos...

These flowers are AMAZING! I love the way the yellow and red pop off one another! I hope my flowers will have such a beautiful contrast!
How cute is this stamp - that's right, stamp!?! I think I would have a hard time picking which one I would want for us, but I am sure there would be one that would be perfect. Maybe they'd be just right for thank you notes! Or, maybe I should give one to myself as a gift when I receive my new name - Lauren Adams: )
I am kinda jealous that I didn't think of something like this for my save-the-dates, but I may steal the idea just to write a note to a friend or something. I am def. known for lists! These remind me of Mom, too.

I LOVE this picture! It is so very sweet! First of all, I hope Nick and I will have weather like this! Then, I also hope we can take some pics like this. I'll have to start scoping out some fields!

LOVE!!!

Official Announcement!

Our engagement announcement was in the Lawrence Journal World on Saturday Coincidentally, it was also NIck's 28th birthday!)...

Wilkinson and Adams
Nick Adams and Lauren Wilkinson

Mark and Terry Wilkinson and Butch and Judy Adams announce the engagement of their children, Lauren Wilkinson and Nick Adams, all of Lawrence. The future bride is a 2001 graduate of Free State High School. She earned an English degree with teaching certification from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 2005. She is an English teacher at FSHS. She is also a dietary aide at Brandon Woods at Alvamar. She is enrolled in Emporia State University’s instructional design and technology graduate program. The future groom is a 1999 graduate of FSHS. He is a sales representative for Standard Beverage Corp. in Lawrence. He is studying business at Baker University. The couple plan a June 2009 wedding at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.
I read engagements/weddings/anniversaries online every Saturday morning while I drink my coffee: ) I have told NIck before that many people from Lawrence look forward to these announcements in the paper every Saturday - I found out yesterday that I was right! SOOO many people told us they saw the announcement, and I quickly discovered that those of us born and raised in Lawrence read them each week because we are guaranteed to know someone! Lawrence may be a college town, but it definitely has a small-town feeling to it! I guess you could say our engagement has now been officially announced - "Lawrence style" : )

2009 Resoloution - COOK

Nick and I used to cook all the time, but recently we have been in a rut. We eat A LOT, and it isn't very good for us...and then we snack A LOT, too. I found us some new recipes to try - and they were created for two people:

grrrr...

So, I am a little bit miffed: ( I just received this email:

Hello Lauren & Nick!

We hope your wedding planning is coming along well!

This is a quick note from eWedding.com to let you know that your free wedding
website will be reverting to the standard 'Free' account status in 5 days. This means some of your pages and features will be limited from the upgrade to 'Gold' you received for the first 2 weeks. These pages will still be in your control panel and you won't lose any of your data or hard work, but they will not be available on your website when viewed.

No big deal, right? Except that it is $9.95/month to include the RSVP feature that I was led to believe was free: ( My thought at this point is to keep it as it as the free account for now, and then I can upgrade closer to when we send out invitations. I suppose in the long run, paying the monthly fee will be cheaper than adding postage to the envelopes, buying RSVP cards, and adding postage to the RSVP cards, but I still feel misled!
